The shopping cart paid more than the television.
It was empty when it landed.
Chrome frame. Red handle. One front wheel turned slightly sideways.
Beside it sat a boxed television with a giant red sale sticker slapped across the corner, the sort of thing that should have been the important object on a Black Friday reel.
The cart rolled one position across.
The sale tag came off the television.
Stuck to the cart.
x3.
The television disappeared with the win.
The cart stayed.
I had been spinning at €2.00 because anything called Black Friday Madness had no business being approached delicately.
The first few spins had been mostly boxes, perfume, trainers, phones and shopping bags under flashing red SALE signs.
Nothing had done much.
A perfume line paid €4.00.
A pair of phones managed €6.00.
Then the empty cart arrived and immediately started stealing the labels off more expensive things.
The next spin dropped another red Sale Tag beside it.
x2.
The cart took that too.
Its little display changed from x3 to x5.
A boxed laptop landed underneath.
Three matching laptops connected through the cart.
The x5 hit all of it.
€20.00.
The wheels shook.
The cart remained.
That was the first moment the products themselves started looking secondary.
The television had been large.
The laptop had looked expensive.
The perfume bottles had gold caps.
The cart was supermarket equipment with one bad wheel and it was already worth more than all of them.
A Coupon Strip landed on reel 5.
Long.
Red.
Covered in little white scissors.
It slid across the bottom of the reels and clipped another Sale Tag from a pair of trainers.
x4.
The tag flew toward the cart.
x9 now.
The trainers vanished.
The cart kept the discount.
This was apparently how Black Friday worked here.
Everything became cheaper.
The shopping cart became richer.
A few dead spins followed.
The cart did not appear.
Sale Tags landed alone and disappeared with their products.
One x5 sticker sat on a phone, flashed beautifully and went nowhere.
Another attached to a perfume bottle.
Gone.
I started caring less about the value printed on the products and more about whether chrome wheels were nearby.
Then two carts landed together.
One on reel 2.
One on reel 4.
A red Sale Tag sat between them.
x6.
Both carts grabbed it.
The left climbed to x6.
The right climbed to x6.
A line of shopping bags connected through both.
The two multipliers hit the same win.
€36.00.
The bags themselves were worth almost nothing before the carts got involved.
Now they were being carried off under flashing lights while both trolleys shook like they had personally negotiated the price.
That pushed the balance properly above where I started.
I left €2.00 untouched.
No raise.
The sale was already loud enough.
Three spins later, the first Doorbuster Scatter appeared.
A huge red sign with a black border.
Then another on reel 5.
Two.
The centre reel stopped on a pair of sneakers.
The Doorbuster signs stayed for a beat.
The trainers looked expensive and completely useless.
Next spin, gone.
The carts returned before the Scatters did.
One Cart Wild landed on reel 3 with an x2 Sale Tag to the left and x3 to the right.
Both tags flew in.
x5.
The cart sat in the middle wearing five times the value of an object that had started the spin as empty transport.
A television line crossed it.
€30.00.
The little checkout bell rang somewhere in the background.
The cart rolled forward half a position and stopped.
No apology from the television.
The cart had beaten it again.
Then the Doorbuster signs came back.
One left.
One middle.
One right.
All three.
The red lights around the reels started pulsing.
A shutter behind the symbols lifted.
Black Friday Madness opened properly.
The feature began with two Shopping Cart Wilds already parked on the reels.
One carried x4.
The other x3.
Eight Free Spins.
The first spin brought nothing worth collecting.
Phones.
Perfume.
One red tag too far from either cart.
No movement.
The second spin dropped a Discount Sticker.
Yellow this time.
It slapped itself over the x4 tag already sitting on the left cart.
The number doubled.
x8.
The cart had received a discount that made it more expensive.
That felt exactly right.
The same spin landed a Sale Tag worth x2 beside the right cart.
It collected.
x5.
Two carts now sat there with x8 and x5 while boxed electronics kept falling around them.
A line of televisions crossed the left cart.
x8.
€32.00.
The right cart did nothing.
It still shook slightly during the payout, which was ambitious.
Next Free Spin.
Coupon Strip.
The strip ran across the bottom again and clipped two visible Sale Tags from different reels.
x3 and x4.
Both went to the nearest carts.
Left cart climbed to x11.
Right cart to x9.
The reel symbols underneath were almost irrelevant now.
One line of shopping bags connected.
The carts hit it from both sides.
€40.00.
The checkout bell rang twice.
The shopping bags disappeared.
The carts remained.
There were still five Free Spins left.
A pair of sneakers landed.
No win.
A Sale Tag marked x5 appeared beside the left cart.
Collected.
x16.
That number changed the look of every product near it.
Perfume stopped being perfume.
Phones stopped being phones.
Everything became material waiting to cross reel 2.
The next spin put three televisions through the left cart.
€64.00.
That was the moment the actual expensive products finally managed to look expensive.
Not because of the televisions.
Because the cart had accumulated enough red stickers to make them dangerous.
The right cart remained at x9.
It had begun to look neglected.
Then a Discount Sticker landed over one of its collected tags.
x9 became x18.
Problem solved.
Both carts were now ridiculous.
One at x16.
One at x18.
Three Free Spins remained.
The first gave me almost nothing.
One perfume bottle missed another by a reel.
A phone landed alone.
The carts waited.
The second-last spin dropped a Coupon Strip across the middle.
It clipped a red x2 tag from a laptop and another x3 tag from a boxed speaker.
The left cart took the x2.
x18.
The right took x3.
x21.
Then four shopping bags connected across the reels.
Both carts touched the line.
The payout jumped.
€78.00.
The bags had become the most expensive objects in a store full of televisions, phones and jewellery simply because two shopping carts had accumulated enough discounts.
One Free Spin remained.
The carts were still there.
x18 and x21.
The reels filled.
Perfume.
Sneakers.
Television.
Shopping bag.
Then a Doorbuster sign landed in the centre.
Not enough to retrigger anything.
Just one red sign standing between the two carts.
The checkout bell rang once.
A final Sale Tag landed beside the left cart.
x4.
Collected.
x22.
The last ordinary line used perfume bottles and one cart.
€44.00.
Then the feature closed.
No collapse.
No empty final spin wiping the mood away.
No giant x1000 number appearing over nothing.
The carts had simply kept collecting ridiculous little red stickers until normal products became valuable.
The Free Spins total came to €258.00.
That number changed my posture.
I had started with €118.00.
The sale had more than paid for itself.
The reels returned to the normal store.
The carts disappeared.
The first base spin after the feature landed one ordinary shopping bag line for €4.00.
It looked tiny.
The bag itself had not changed.
I had.
I left the stake at €2.00.
The obvious thing would have been to raise.
The slot had just stacked multipliers on shopping carts, doubled one with a Discount Sticker, and turned perfume into €44.00.
That was enough spectacle for one stake.
A Doorbuster Scatter landed alone.
Then a cart.
No useful tags.
Another spin brought two Sale Tags without any cart nearby.
They disappeared.
The store had already shown me what happened when all the parts cooperated.
I did not need to stand around asking the electronics section to perform it again.
A final Cart Wild appeared on reel 4.
Empty.
One x2 Sale Tag landed beside it.
The cart collected.
x2.
A pair of phones crossed the reel but missed the line.
No win.
The cart stayed for the end of the spin carrying one little red tag.
After x22 and x21 inside the feature, x2 looked almost charming.
I stopped there.
The sale signs were still flashing.
The checkout bell had gone quiet.
One empty-looking shopping cart remained on the reel with x2 stuck to the handle.
It had already seen what the expensive stuff was worth.
I thought I hit max win. 10 Celestial Fruits thought otherwise.
