Health bar red, spin finger green.

I pressed Buy.

The coven answered with twelve Free Spins and a blank centre.

The middle of the magic circle contained absolutely nothing. No symbol. No Coin. No Wild. Just one empty position occupying the most important seat on the grid while every other stone waited to discover what kind of ritual the vacancy intended to conduct.

I had paid €40.00 at a €0.40 stake.

The first spin began. Thirty positions moved independently across a steep 1-4-7-6-7-4-1 formation, widening toward the middle before narrowing back down at the edges. It looked less like a reel set and more like somebody had built a ceremonial staircase for thirty stones and then given the altar the widest seating arrangement.

Symbols landed across the circle. So did Blanks. One empty stone near the top, two along the left slope, another beside the centre. The coven had opened its paid ceremony with missing attendees.

Five matching marks connected low on the grid. They flashed, paid and respun in their own positions. The centre turned again with them despite having contributed absolutely nothing except being in charge.

The Red Witch appeared.

Upgraded.

Every paying symbol across the circle climbed one level.

Dark runes sharpened. Frames thickened. Gemstones changed into heavier versions of themselves. The increase held for the rest of the Free Spins.

The coven had promoted the entire congregation during the first successful sacrifice.

The Blanks remained unemployed.

That was Coven Rising.

Before the Buy, I had spent a short stretch at €0.40 watching the same circle behave with cheaper secrecy. A cluster of five would connect, those winning positions would respin and the centre would join the movement, repeatedly receiving another chance to become useful.

Sometimes it landed Blank.

Sometimes nothing supernatural appeared there at all.

Then one sequence brought the Yellow Witch.

Several empty positions across the board filled with paying symbols. Vacancies suddenly acquired colour, value and responsibilities. One of the new groups reached five, paid and respun.

The centre turned again.

Blank.

The Yellow Witch had filled the congregation and the altar had immediately vacated the building.

Another centre result brought the Red Witch. One paying symbol family climbed a level for that sequence. The symbols became more valuable, but the useful cluster formed somewhere else.

The coven had sharpened the ceremonial knives after selecting different victims.

Scatters arrived in pairs. One on the narrow left edge, another high on the broad central slope. The third refused.

Later two landed near the bottom while the middle cycled through an ordinary symbol, a Coin and another Blank during the surrounding respins.

Two invitations.

Loose money.

Empty altar.

Still no feature.

That was when Buy stopped looking like a financial option and started looking like a door handle attached to a room making suspicious noises.

I pressed it myself.

There was no one else to blame.

Back inside the purchased Free Spins, the Red Witch’s first upgrade remained everywhere. Fresh copies of those symbols entered the circle already wearing their stronger forms.

The spell had not improved one temporary arrangement.

It had altered the bloodline.

A group of six connected near the middle. They paid and respun.

The centre turned.

Yellow Witch.

Upgraded.

Every Blank on the board lit at once.

One empty position on the upper slope became a paying symbol. Two vacancies on the right filled. The Blank beside the middle finally accepted an identity.

The Yellow Witch had not summoned new members.

She had forced absence to pick a costume.

Two clusters formed immediately.

The first paid and respun.

The second connected elsewhere and followed.

Every successful cluster gave the centre another chance to interfere.

This time the Blue Witch arrived in upgraded form.

The middle position became Wild.

Two more Wilds appeared elsewhere on the circle.

Three in total.

One landed inside a useful group. Another appeared near the edge beside symbols with absolutely no interest in matching it. The third sat between two promising patches that remained separate.

The coven had summoned unrestricted magical assistance and assigned most of it to seating.

The useful Wild joined five upgraded symbols.

Payment.

Those positions respun.

The centre turned again.

Blank.

It had spent one Free Spin converting empty stones into symbols, becoming Wild, summoning two more Wilds and then returning personally to nothingness.

The sequence brought €5.20.

The next few Free Spins were quieter. Four matching symbols gathered around a Wild without finding a fifth member. The Wild was prepared to impersonate anything in the known magical world and had been provided with an audience of four.

Another spin scattered Coins around the circle. A 1x appeared on the left, a 2x lower down and a 3x on the opposite slope.

No Green Witch.

The three values simply sat there.

The centre chose an ordinary symbol.

The coven had placed money around the altar and appointed nobody to conduct the collection.

A small cluster formed elsewhere and respun.

The centre turned.

Green Witch.

Upgraded.

Before she collected anything, several Blank positions flashed.

New Coins appeared inside them.

A 2x.

A 4x.

The Green Witch had looked at the existing money, noticed several empty stones and responded by putting more money into the vacancies before taking the lot.

Every Coin value was collected.

The payment entered the feature.

Most of the Coin positions respun away.

One Coin remained.

The highest of the original group stayed behind carrying the gathered amount.

One piece of money had survived the collection by becoming the collection.

The coven had compressed an entire handful of Coins into one financially haunted survivor.

The next Free Spin left it sitting in the circle.

A new Coin landed elsewhere.

Too small.

Nothing replaced the persistent one.

A cluster of upgraded paying symbols formed nearby, disappeared and respun.

The centre rotated again.

Red Witch.

Another symbol family climbed a level.

That upgrade would now remain too.

The circle contained two increasingly aristocratic families of runes and one Coin that had already eaten several relatives.

Another spin brought a larger Coin.

It landed above the persistent value.

The old gathered Coin disappeared.

The larger newcomer took its place.

The coven did not maintain Coin loyalty.

It maintained succession.

The richer Coin had arrived and inherited the haunting.

A later winning cluster forced another centre respin.

Blue Witch.

Upgraded again.

The centre became Wild.

Two additional Wilds appeared across the board.

One Wild was already sitting lower down from the symbols that had landed naturally, leaving four Wilds visible across the grid in total.

That was where the earlier version of the ritual had looked impossible.

This one actually made sense.

One existing Wild.

Three delivered by the upgraded Blue Witch.

Four on screen.

Two of the new Wilds landed close enough to an upgraded symbol family to matter. The group connected and paid.

The other Wild sat alone on a narrow slope with all the magical flexibility in the world and nobody willing to stand beside it.

Winning positions respun.

The centre turned.

Red Witch again.

Another level climbed.

The coven had now improved symbols that were no longer numerous enough to form the next cluster.

Perfect timing remained forbidden magic.

The final Free Spins arrived with the circle looking much stronger than the one I had bought into. Persistent upgrades glowed across several symbol families. The gathered Coin still occupied its position. A Wild sat low. Blank stones remained threaded between potentially useful groups.

Everything looked prepared.

Nothing was arranged.

Four upgraded symbols gathered on one side.

Another four appeared on the other.

The Wild sat between regions that still did not connect into one legal cluster.

The circle had value on both sides of the altar and no congregation large enough to agree on a ritual.

The final successful cluster came from five ordinary symbols near the bottom. They paid €1.20 and respun.

The centre received its last chance.

It flashed Green.

Then Blue.

Then stopped.

Blank.

The Free Spins ended at €18.80.

I had paid €40.00 to wake the coven.

The Red Witch had permanently elevated two families of symbols. The Yellow Witch had forced empty stones to become useful. The Blue Witch had turned the altar Wild and thrown additional Wilds around the circle. The Green Witch had created Coins inside vacancies, collected the money and left one chosen Coin carrying the weight of the entire offering.

The final screen still looked busy.

Stronger symbols surrounded the middle. A gathered Coin remained on one slope. A Wild waited lower down. Blank stones occupied the spaces between things that almost belonged together.

At the exact centre of the entire magic circle, the most important position had become empty again.

I left the vacancy in charge.

Miss Cherry Wild Frames responds to confidence with instant 0.1x.
