The pink chips paid €5.
The square underneath them eventually paid much more.
That was the first useful thing Smokey taught me about Las Vegas.
A little cluster of chips had connected in the middle of the 6×5 grid.
They disappeared.
Fresh symbols dropped.
The places underneath stayed gold.
Marked Squares.
Then the Rainbow landed.
It waited for the last cascade to finish and opened across the old chip positions.
Bronze Coin.
Bronze Coin.
Another Bronze.
Silver Coin.
The chips were gone.
Their parking spaces had become cash.
Le Vegas Matt had apparently arrived in Nevada with a large stack of money and immediately discovered the Strip’s most important secret.
Never look at what is on the casino floor.
Look underneath where it used to be.
I was playing at €1.00.
Smokey stood beside the reels dressed for Vegas in exactly the way a raccoon with no intention of behaving quietly would dress for Vegas.
Black cap.
Gold chain.
Watch.
Cash in one paw.
Moustache still somehow surviving the transformation from outlaw to casino visitor.
Behind him were neon lights, giant diamonds, casino entrances and enough glowing signage to make darkness a theoretical concept.
The reels carried pink chips, playing cards, gold 7s, watches, rings and card ranks.
Five connected symbols were enough.
Winning symbols disappeared.
New ones fell.
And every winning position left that yellow mark behind.
The first Rainbow gave mostly Bronze Coins.
Useful.
Nothing spectacular.
A few spins later, watches made a better patch.
Six of them connected.
Gone.
Cards connected in the refill.
Gone.
The centre had several glowing squares by the time the cascades stopped.
Rainbow.
Silver Coin.
Bronze.
Bronze.
Another Silver.
About €18 from the whole sequence.
Again, the casino had waited until the symbols were removed before producing the better part.
Smokey had apparently reached Vegas and decided slot symbols were just temporary floor coverings.
The base game went quieter after that.
A 7 cluster.
Small win.
No Rainbow.
Marks gone with the end of the spin.
Pink chips.
Another cluster.
No Rainbow.
The illuminated positions disappeared unused.
That started making good cluster wins feel unfinished.
The money was fine.
I wanted the Rainbow to inspect the scene afterward.
Then five FS symbols landed together.
Five.
Not three.
Not four.
Straight to Treasure at the End of the Rainbow.
Twelve Free Spins.
The casino had skipped the smaller rooms and opened the one where the Rainbow no longer needed an invitation.
First Free Spin.
Pink chips connected.
They disappeared.
Several Marked Squares lit.
Rainbow arrived automatically.
Silver Coin.
Silver.
Another Silver.
No Bronze.
That changed the texture immediately.
The cheapest coins had been thrown out.
More importantly, the Marked Squares stayed glowing after they had been activated.
Second Free Spin.
Gold 7s connected on the left.
More marks.
Rainbow.
The old chip positions opened again.
Silver Coin.
Different value.
One of the new 7 positions turned Silver too.
The same square had now been searched twice and had produced money both times.
It remained highlighted.
This was no longer a normal casino floor.
Smokey had found rechargeable carpeting.
Third spin.
Cards.
Cluster.
More gold marks.
Rainbow.
Silver.
Silver.
Then one position in the centre turned Gold.
25x.
That square had previously been a pink chip.
Then a Silver Coin.
Now it was worth twenty-five bets.
I started recognising locations.
The centre-left square had already produced Silver twice.
The lower-middle position had been disappointingly committed to 5x.
One patch near the right side was newly marked and had not yet been searched properly.
Every cluster expanded the map.
Every Rainbow came guaranteed.
Every old square remained available.
By the fourth and fifth spins, the reels felt almost secondary.
A 7 cluster was useful because it painted more floor.
A watch cluster was useful because it added another permanent patch.
The real event came afterward when the Rainbow walked across everything Smokey had already marked and started turning old casino footprints into metal.
One spin produced the first Bag of Gold.
It appeared among several Silver Coins.
No Clover.
The values revealed.
The Bag activated.
Pulled the Coins into itself.
Then the remaining Marked Squares opened again.
Fresh Silver Coins.
No second Bag.
The total jumped nicely.
And the marks stayed.
That was the dangerous part.
The bag had just emptied the floor.
The floor was still available.
The casino had apparently decided depletion was bad for tourism.
The middle Free Spins kept building.
One Rainbow found mostly 5x and 10x Silvers.
Another produced a 25x Gold Coin near the bottom.
A chip cluster expanded the central patch.
Cards added another strip across the right.
Smokey stood beside the whole thing holding his cash like he had personally invented the concept of making money reappear in the same square.
The big sequence came late.
First, pink chips connected across the centre.
They disappeared.
Playing cards fell into the gaps and connected too.
Second cascade.
More marks.
The grid now had a huge gold patch through the middle.
Rainbow.
Everything opened.
Gold Coin.
50x.
Silver Coin.
15x.
Another Silver.
10x.
Four-Leaf Clover.
Bag of Gold.
The Clover activated first.
x3.
It sat beside the Gold Coin.
The 50x became much more serious.
The Bag was adjacent too.
That increased before it had even started collecting.
Then the Bag woke up.
Coins poured into it.
Gold.
Silver.
More Silver.
The multiplied values.
The whole centre of the casino disappeared into one sack.
Then the other Marked Squares activated again.
Second reveal.
Another Bag of Gold.
Silver Coin.
Silver.
Gold Coin.
25x.
More Silver.
The second Bag now had plenty to work with.
It activated.
Collected the fresh field.
And because another Bag had appeared, the remaining marks were not finished.
They opened again.
Third layer.
Mostly Silver this time.
5x.
10x.
Another 15x.
No new Bag.
Finally the floor stopped reproducing luggage.
The counter had already crossed €100.
Then €160.
The first x3 interaction had made the 50x Gold Coin heavy.
The first Bag collected it.
The second reveal brought another Bag and another Gold Coin.
That Bag collected again.
The third reveal kept adding Silver.
Past €200.
The whole spin ended around €260.
One Rainbow had inspected the same piece of Las Vegas real estate often enough to find two sacks of gold underneath it.
Smokey’s original wad of cash suddenly looked like cab fare.
The feature total moved well into profit.
The remaining Free Spins could be quieter.
They were.
One produced a couple of small chip clusters and a Silver-heavy Rainbow.
Another added two new marked positions but revealed nothing above 10x.
No problem.
The casino floor had already done enough archaeological work.
Final Free Spin.
A cluster of playing cards disappeared near the lower centre.
Those positions joined the marked territory.
Rainbow arrived one last time.
Silver.
Silver.
5x.
10x.
Another Silver.
No Gold.
No Clover.
No Bag.
A modest final sweep.
The Treasure feature stopped around €430.
I did not spin again.
The bonus closed back onto the neon casino street.
Smokey stood there with his cap, chain, watch and the same bundle of notes still in his paw.
Behind him, the casino entrance glowed.
In front of him, the centre of the grid was still covered in golden Marked Squares.
Those positions had been chips.
Cards.
7s.
Coins.
Bags.
Then Coins again.
Some had already paid three times.
And they still looked richer than the casino door.
Tikitopia Boosterbelt doesn’t pay in coins. It pays in consequences.
