Maximus Reels slot certainly has all the features that you would expect on a slot machine with this theme, there are Gladiator Wilds, Maxi Reels and a Free Spins Arena. When you first start the slot there is a panorama view of the Colosseum and we hear a cheering audience and this certainly sets the scene.

It does need to be said that visually the scene to us at least leave a little to be desired  which just leaves the gameplay. How is it you ask? Well the base game is pretty boring and even though you get to pick some features (at random) when you trigger the free spins it just continues to feel dated and quite boring. The shield animation is a perfect example it really just looks like something from a late 80’s video game which would be fine on a retro style slot but this is not that.

For a free spin mode it is not that bad especially if you get lucky and pick the right shields but all in all this slot just does not excite us in any way shape or form and this opinion is not helped by the fact that RTP really is stupidly low.
