The third Orb landed and the warrior stopped treating me as a visitor.
Jade light ran through the 5×3 reels. The letters, masks and stone faces disappeared. Three Coin Orbs were carried into a fifteen-cell grid while the guardian rose beneath it in gold, turquoise and enough red feathers to frighten the upper canopy.
Three lives appeared.
She looked directly ahead.
I understood the arrangement. I had touched the treasure. We were no longer making small talk.
It had taken nearly 150 spins at €0.60 to get there.
For most of that chase, the jungle had specialised in pairs. Two Bonus Orbs would land on opposite sides of the reels, glowing with all the urgency of temple alarms, then leave the third position to a green mask with square teeth. The warrior Wild arrived after paylines had already broken apart. Purple deities gathered in twos. Red jaguar faces turned up wherever the letters had occupied the useful spaces.
The balance had fallen by €76.80 through a series of ceremonial inconveniences.
Now the three starting Orbs showed €0.60, €1.20 and €1.80.
The guardian watched them glow.
I nodded.
Calling €0.60 hidden treasure felt ambitious, but correcting a jungle warrior while she wore a golden headdress seemed poor manners.
The first life rolled away.
Two new Orbs landed together: €0.60 on the left and €2.40 low on the right.
The lives returned to three.
The warrior lifted her chin. Leaves shook behind the jade frame and a drum struck once. Five occupied cells had apparently restored confidence to the entire civilisation.
Two empty turns followed.
No Orb. No jackpot. Just the guardian maintaining the expression of somebody who had already seen the ending and found my posture disappointing.
On the last life, €1.20 dropped into the middle.
Three lives again.
I sat up.
She did not.
The feature continued in little admissions. A Mini Jackpot Orb arrived near the upper-right corner and locked at €15.00. The guardian’s feathers flared. Gold ran around the cell. The Mini received a welcome suitable for a captured sun.
I gave it a respectful nod.
We had now reached treasure that could buy lunch.
A €3.00 Orb joined the lower row. Then €0.60. Then €1.80. Every arrival pulled the lives back to three, and every reset made the warrior look less like a guardian and more like someone extending a trial because the accused had finally started producing acceptable offerings.
Ten of the fifteen cells were occupied.
Five remained.
The empty spaces formed a crooked path through the grid. I began watching the centre gap, because one missing position will always appoint itself ruler of the session when stared at for long enough.
The jungle fed the outside cells instead.
€1.20 landed high on the left.
€1.80 settled below the Mini.
A €3.00 Orb took the bottom corner.
Thirteen cells.
Twelve Coin Orbs now held €19.20 between them. The Mini waited beside them at €15.00. Two spaces remained empty.
One life passed.
Nothing.
Another life dropped away.
The guardian’s eyes stayed fixed on the grid. She had spent the base game allowing two trigger Orbs to appear every few minutes. Now she had thirteen pieces of treasure under guard and the patience of a statue deciding whether to become weather.
The next symbol was not a Coin Orb.
The Jaguar arrived.
It landed in the fourteenth cell carrying 2x.
The animal stared across the grid.
Every Coin Orb changed.
€0.60 became €1.20. €1.20 became €2.40. €3.00 became €6.00. The smaller values stood taller. The larger ones gained weight. Twelve Coins that had totalled €19.20 now showed €38.40.
The Jaguar had entered, looked at the treasure and doubled it without touching a single drum.
The warrior finally smiled.
I had been waiting 150 spins for her approval.
The Jaguar obtained it by sitting down.
One space remained.
Top row. Second cell.
The whole grid leaned toward it. The Mini glowed. The Jaguar held its place. Three lives stood ready, but the empty square had already become the only object in the jungle with a speaking role.
The first attempt missed.
The second missed.
One life remained.
An Orb rolled across the top row.
It passed the first cell.
Slowed above the gap.
Dropped.
€2.40.
All fifteen spaces filled.
The jade frame ignited around the grid. The warrior’s headdress flared. The Jaguar flashed beside the multiplied Coins. Every Orb value lifted out of its cell and poured into the total.
€38.40 from the multiplied group.
€2.40 from the final Orb.
€15.00 from the Mini.
€55.80.
The full grid vanished.
Not faded. Not gently cleared.
The guardian removed the entire altar the instant I completed it.
A fresh empty fifteen-cell grid appeared with three new lives.
That was The Jade Path Hold & Win congratulating me: take the treasure, sweep the stones, return the intruder to the beginning.
I had filled every space and been rewarded with more available space.
The second grid started cold.
One life disappeared.
Then a €0.60 Orb landed and restored all three.
Another empty turn.
A €1.20 Orb arrived.
Three lives again.
The guardian still watched with the same intensity, but the ceremony had lost several musicians. No Jaguar stepped out. No Jackpot Orb glowed. The empty cells sat in clean rows, newly washed and entirely uninterested in my previous achievement.
A €3.00 Orb landed low in the centre.
Later, €2.40 joined it on the right.
Four Orbs.
€7.20.
The lives reset each time, then began falling without interruption.
Three became two.
Two became one.
Nothing else entered the grid.
The warrior did not bargain with the empty cells. The Jaguar did not return to improve the collection. The Mini remained back in the first grid, already carried away with the rest of the treasure.
The second field paid its €7.20 and closed.
The feature total stopped at €63.00.
The base reels returned with green masks, a red jaguar face, two letters and one lonely Coin Orb sitting in the middle column.
I was still €13.80 down.
The guardian remained beneath the reels, calm and fully decorated, protecting a jungle that had just allowed me to fill an entire jade altar, meet a multiplier Jaguar and begin a second life.
I closed the slot.
The final Coin Orb stayed alone between the masks.
She had not guarded the treasure from me.
She had guarded the third Orb from arriving while any of it could still save the session.
I played Nightmares VS GigaBlox and got a reminder to hydrate — from the tears.
