The castle cloned the mummy.
Then, apparently dissatisfied with the amount of mummy, it widened a reel and made one of the copies four positions large.
That settled the tone immediately.
One bandaged creature had landed in the middle of the screen.
A Cloning Tile flashed.
Suddenly there were mummies on several reels.
The first winning group disappeared.
Fresh monsters fell into the spaces.
Then one reel expanded and dropped a 2×2 mummy into the middle of the whole arrangement.
The original mummy problem had become four times larger in one square.
Spooky Spooky had discovered a very direct answer to the question “what if there were more monsters?”
More monsters.
Bigger monsters.
Continue.
I had started with €120 and kept the stake at €1.00.
Bet Boost stayed off.
The Bonus Buy stayed untouched.
The reels already contained mummies, floating eyeballs, a purple creature shaped mostly like a mouth, a green slime carrying a tiny shovel, flaming eyeballs in several colours and a Wild that looked like a handful of fingers had melted together before learning to spell.
The house did not need acceleration.
It needed supervision.
The first few spins were quieter.
Three Multiplier Frames appeared over random positions before each result.
Glowing borders.
Numbers inside them.
x2.
x3.
Sometimes another x2.
The frames did nothing unless a winning way travelled through them.
That made them much more interesting than ordinary multipliers.
They were not attached to the monster.
They were attached to the place.
A mummy could fall through one.
A slime could fall through one.
One of the tiny floating eyeballs could fall through one.
The frame did not care what lived there.
It cared whether something useful crossed its doorway.
On spin five, purple monsters connected through a x2 frame.
The win registered.
Those symbols disappeared.
New ones fell.
The collected frame stayed exactly where it was.
Its multiplier increased for the next cascade.
Another purple monster landed through the same position.
The way connected again.
The frame was now stronger simply because the haunting had continued through it twice.
€2.20 came out of the whole sequence.
Small money.
Very important information.
The castle had picture frames that became more powerful if monsters repeatedly fell through them.
That was much more useful than whatever the paintings normally showed.
A Fat Reel appeared a few spins later.
Reel five widened.
The normal column stretched.
Two mega symbols arrived, each occupying a 2×2 block.
One was green slime.
One was mummy.
The slime now covered enough of the reels to look less like a creature and more like the castle had tipped over a bucket.
A winning way formed through part of the enlarged reel.
The symbols broke.
The cascade began.
The mega slime disappeared.
Another 2×2 symbol dropped into the fat space.
Orange mouth creature.
Four positions of teeth.
Spooky Spooky had removed a giant slime and replaced it with a giant mouth before the same spin had finished.
The castle was not trying to reduce the haunting.
It was rotating inventory.
That spin returned €1.40.
Then the reel shrank to normal size.
Everything looked unnaturally small.
A mummy occupying one position now seemed restrained.
The first proper cloning burst came later.
A special tile landed.
It converted itself.
Then several low-paying symbols nearby changed into the same creature.
Mummies again.
One.
Then several.
A whole patch of the screen turned bandaged.
Enough connected across adjacent reels.
The winning group vanished.
Fresh symbols dropped.
Two surviving mummies immediately helped form another way.
The cascade continued.
At that point, the castle had done three separate things to the same species.
Created mummy.
Copied mummy.
Dropped replacement mummy into the space left by mummy.
It was an efficient ecosystem if the only required output was more mummy.
The base game kept alternating between calm and infestation.
A line of flaming eyeballs paid €0.80.
Blank.
A Fat Reel arrived and produced a 2×2 purple creature.
Nothing connected.
The giant purple thing simply occupied four positions, looked intensely purple, and disappeared when the spin ended.
Then another sequence found two Multiplier Frames at once.
A mummy way crossed both.
The multipliers were collected and added.
The mummies vanished.
Cascade.
Both used frames increased.
Fresh symbols dropped into the same places.
Another winning way crossed one of them again.
The multiplier climbed.
€3.20.
That was when I stopped watching the monsters first.
Every new spin, I looked for the frames.
Where had the house hung them?
Top-left.
Bottom-middle.
Near reel five.
Which creature could cross them?
Would a Fat Reel cover one?
Could a cloned mummy arrive directly through the strongest frame?
The monsters had become passengers.
The frames were the haunting.
By spin fifteen, the house had also started showing the Free Spins symbols often enough to be distracting.
One landed alone.
Nothing.
Later, two appeared on the same spin.
Still nothing.
One of them landed inside a Fat Reel and became visually enormous.
That did not improve its numerical status.
It was still one Scatter.
Just a much larger sign saying FREE SPINS.
The castle had found a way to make disappointment physically bigger.
More base spins.
Mummy.
Slime.
Eyeballs.
Purple mouth.
Green shovel creature.
The Cloning Tile returned and this time copied one of the flaming eyeballs.
Several low symbols changed into matching little orange eyes.
The screen briefly contained so many detached eyeballs that the haunted house seemed to have developed its own audience.
A way connected.
They vanished.
New symbols fell.
A Multiplier Frame increased during the cascade.
The remaining eye landed straight through it.
Another small win.
Nothing enormous happened.
The house simply became more committed to its own logic.
If one creature was useful, copy it.
If copying was insufficient, enlarge the reel.
If the reel was not enough, hang multiplier frames over it.
If the frames worked, make them stronger during the cascade.
By spin twenty, I had stopped expecting a normal-looking result.
A completely ordinary six-reel screen felt temporary.
Somewhere nearby was a Fat Reel waiting to widen.
A Cloning Tile waiting to turn several symbols into the same monster.
Three glowing frames waiting to multiply whatever crossed them.
The quiet spins became the strange ones.
The balance moved down gradually.
€1.60 came back from one way.
€0.80 from another.
A later cascade returned €2.20.
The Free Spins symbols kept arriving in pieces.
One.
Two.
Then none.
I wanted three.
The game eventually gave me more.
Paid spin twenty-eight landed four.
Four Free Spins symbols across the haunted grid.
Three would have opened eight spins.
The fourth pushed it to ten.
The house darkened around the reels.
The feature began with €101.80 underneath.
And immediately, a reel widened.
Of course it did.
Every Free Spin would have a Fat Reel.
The castle had removed the possibility of normal dimensions from the bonus entirely.
Three Multiplier Frames appeared too.
But now they behaved differently from the base.
Their values would not reset between Free Spins.
They could move to new positions.
Their numbers would survive.
The house had taken the most dangerous part of the base game and given it memory.
The first Free Spin produced mummies.
One frame joined the win.
€1.80.
Nothing spectacular.
The frame carried its multiplier forward.
Second Free Spin.
The frames moved.
Reel two widened.
A giant orange mouth arrived as one of the 2×2 symbols.
Another mega creature landed below.
A way crossed two Multiplier Frames.
The symbols vanished.
Cascade.
The collected frames increased.
New creatures fell.
The giant mouth broke away and was replaced by a giant mummy.
A second way used one of the same growing frames.
€4.20.
The Fat Reel had changed species halfway through the spin.
That was now normal.
Free Spin three did nothing.
The enlarged reel showed a massive green slime covering four positions.
No winning way used it.
It stayed there for the spin with its tiny shovel occupying roughly the same visual importance as several ordinary monsters combined.
Then it disappeared.
The fourth Free Spin became the first real frame outbreak.
Two frames sat in positions that a mummy way could cross.
The win collected one of them.
Cascade.
That frame increased.
More mummies dropped.
Another way crossed the same frame and the second one.
Both applied.
Cascade again.
A third group formed through the growing frame.
€8.40.
The monsters were no longer the feature.
They were fuel for picture frames.
Free Spin five brought slime creatures.
Short chain.
€3.60.
Then Free Spin six produced the Cat Symbol.
A glowing cat face activated another level on the meter beside the reels.
The second level lit.
Nothing else about the cat needed explaining.
A supernatural cat had arrived.
The haunted house had taken note.
A mummy way crossed one frame.
Cascade.
Another small connection followed.
€6.80.
Free Spin seven was blank.
The Fat Reel generated a 2×2 mummy.
He did not connect to anything.
The house had temporarily created four positions of bandages for decorative purposes.
Then came Free Spin eight.
Another Cat Symbol.
Third activation.
The side meter completed.
A fourth Multiplier Frame appeared.
That was exactly the sort of reward this castle would choose.
The house had enough monsters.
Enough eyes.
Enough giant reels.
Enough slime.
The solution was another haunted frame.
Now four glowing multiplier windows moved around the grid between spins.
The Fat Reel widened again.
The new frame landed near it.
A winning way crossed the frame immediately.
Cascade.
Another frame joined.
Those multipliers grew.
Fresh symbols fell.
Then a Cloning Tile changed several low symbols into the same purple monster.
The clones found a path through the stronger frames.
€10.20.
The castle had finally combined nearly everything it knew.
Clone monster.
Enlarge reel.
Move frames.
Increase frames.
Drop more monster.
That was the whole machine.
Free Spin nine began with four multiplier frames already carrying history from earlier spins.
Two landed close together.
One sat near the top.
Another occupied the bottom of reel five.
A mummy way found the pair.
Cascade.
Green slime dropped through one of the newly increased positions.
Another way.
€7.40.
One original Free Spin remained.
The tenth started with the Fat Reel on the left.
Then another Free Spins Scatter landed.
One additional spin.
The house had enlarged a reel and used the extra space to deliver more time.
The rest of that spin became a long cascade.
Two frames were collected first.
Those symbols vanished.
The frames increased.
Another way crossed one of them and a third.
New creatures fell.
The fourth frame finally joined a later win.
€12.00.
One extra Free Spin remained.
Four persistent Multiplier Frames.
One guaranteed Fat Reel.
A castle full of creatures that had spent the bonus learning how to clone themselves.
The final spin widened reel four.
Two mega symbols arrived.
One mummy.
One orange mouth.
The frames moved into positions around them.
A line of smaller mummies connected from the left.
Two frames fired.
Those mummies vanished.
The mega mummy remained.
New symbols fell around him.
Another mummy way formed.
Three frames activated this time.
Their collected values increased again.
Cascade.
A purple creature landed into the last useful gap.
Another way.
The fourth frame joined.
€12.20.
Then the house finally stopped rearranging itself.
No extra Scatter.
No new Cat.
No cloning burst.
No further cascade.
The Fat Reel narrowed.
The giant mummy returned to ordinary mummy dimensions.
The orange mouth shrank back to one symbol.
The four Multiplier Frames disappeared.
The base game returned with €168.40 under the reels.
Everything suddenly looked suspiciously contained.
One mummy per position.
One slime per position.
Floating eyeballs keeping to their own squares.
No reel twice as wide as its neighbours.
No fresh frame hanging over the monsters.
Spooky Spooky had spent the feature cloning the dead, enlarging the clones and adding more multiplier frames every time the supernatural cat finished another three-step ritual.
Now the castle had gone back to six ordinary reels.
That was probably temporary.
It had already demonstrated far too many ways to make more monster.
Every wild in Alien Fruits 2 knows my name now.
