Santa was still asleep.
That was the final screen.
One wrapped present sat on reel four.
A snowman was on the left.
Two bells had stopped higher up.
Santa remained above the reels with his hat over one eye, apparently unaware that his sleigh had crossed the game several times, turned entire rows Wild and made me €13.20.
The present had survived all of it.
No sleigh.
No Wild frame.
No Christmas emergency.
Just a box with a ribbon.
Considering the management style, this was remarkable.
I had started with €250.
The stake was €1.20.
Xmas Dreams opened on a blue Christmas night full of snow, stars and enough coloured lights to make darkness mostly theoretical.
Five reels.
Four rows.
Twenty paylines.
Presents.
Bells.
Candy canes.
Stockings.
Snowmen.
Elves.
Reindeer.
And Santa.
Sleeping.
The man responsible for Christmas was unconscious before the first spin.
An elf stood near one side of the reels looking far more awake than his employer.
A reindeer stared forward.
The snowman had the expression of somebody who had already accepted that no adult supervision was coming.
I pressed spin.
A few bells paid €1.20.
Next spin:
nothing.
Then presents.
Then stockings.
The early game behaved normally enough that Santa’s complete lack of participation almost looked sensible.
On spin six, a small gold star floated down from above the reels.
It stopped beside the third row.
One Dream Star.
Nothing else happened.
Santa continued sleeping.
I kept going.
Another small win came from candy canes.
The star remained beside row three.
Three spins later, another Star floated down.
Same row.
Two.
Santa snored.
The sleigh moved.
No Santa in it.
That felt important.
It shot horizontally across row three.
Five positions flashed.
A stocking disappeared.
An elf disappeared.
Two bells disappeared.
One reindeer disappeared.
All five positions became wrapped Present Wilds.
The paylines evaluated again.
€6.
Then the presents vanished.
The row returned to normal.
The two Dream Stars disappeared.
Santa never opened his eyes.
The first major operational event of Christmas had just been completed by an empty vehicle.
The reindeer above the reels had contributed nothing.
The elves had contributed by being removed.
Santa had contributed sleep.
I was beginning to understand the title.
The first twenty paid spins cost €24.
€10.80 returned.
Balance:
€236.80.
The snowman appeared frequently.
He never triggered anything.
This seemed fair.
He was made of snow.
His responsibilities were already clear.
The elves bothered me more.
There were several of them across the symbols and not one had attempted to wake Santa.
Maybe this was normal.
Maybe Xmas Dreams took place after several hundred years of the workshop discovering that Christmas ran better once the boss fell asleep.
Thirteen more paid spins followed.
The rows collected a few isolated Dream Stars but no second pair formed.
One landed beside the top row.
Later one appeared near the bottom.
Neither received company.
A present line paid €2.40.
Bells managed another small result.
A reindeer combination looked promising and produced €1.20.
The animal had finally participated in Christmas financially.
€15.60 went in.
€7.20 returned.
Balance:
€228.40.
Then I paid another €1.20.
Moon on reel one.
Moon on reel three.
The last Moon Scatter stopped on reel five.
All three glowed pale blue.
Santa moved slightly.
Not enough to wake up.
Ten Xmas Dreams Free Spins appeared.
Balance outside the feature:
€227.20.
The reels softened into darker blue.
Snow drifted behind them.
The four rows each gained their own little dream space.
The first Free Spin did nothing.
No win.
One Dream Star appeared beside row three.
Santa slept through it.
Second spin brought a small bell line.
€2.40.
Then another Dream Star landed beside row three.
Two.
Sleigh Ride.
The unmanned sleigh launched again.
Across the third row.
Present.
Bell.
Elf.
Candy cane.
Snowman.
Gone.
Five Present Wilds replaced them.
The row paid €8.40.
This time the two Stars disappeared but a small golden mark remained beside the row.
One completed dream.
The sleigh had now developed a memory.
Santa still had not.
Fourth Free Spin was empty.
Fifth brought presents for €3.60.
One Dream Star landed beside row one.
Free Spin six paid another €3.60 from stockings and bells.
Then a second Star appeared beside row three again.
Same row as before.
The little golden mark lit.
Two Stars.
Sleigh.
Across it went.
The third row vanished under five Present Wilds.
But this time the row carried x2.
The Wilds connected bells, reindeer and one elf across several lines.
€16.80.
That became the best moment of the feature.
Not because Santa had done anything.
He had not.
The sleigh had now crossed the same horizontal section of Christmas twice and become more valuable through repetition.
This was the most organised behaviour visible anywhere on screen.
The reindeer were decorative.
The elves were repeatedly being replaced by Wild presents.
Santa was asleep.
The empty sleigh was the senior employee.
Free Spin eight returned €1.20.
A Dream Star appeared beside row one.
That made two there.
The sleigh waited until the next resolution.
Free Spin nine stopped with nothing useful.
Then the two Stars on row one activated.
Another Sleigh Ride.
Top row.
Five symbols disappeared.
Present Wilds across the whole line.
The Wilds caught a bell combination and a row of stockings.
€7.20.
Santa shifted his head slightly.
I watched carefully.
Nothing.
Still asleep.
Free Spin ten arrived.
No new pair of Stars.
No retrigger.
No final Christmas explosion.
The game counted the feature.
€43.20.
Balance:
€270.40.
I had started with €250.
The dream ended.
The snow lightened.
The reels went back to the normal blue Christmas night.
Santa remained exactly where he had been.
This was starting to feel less like sleep and more like a management strategy.
I played ten more paid spins.
The first few were quiet.
One snowman line returned €1.20.
A present combination later gave €2.40.
The remaining €1.20 came from bells.
No new Moon trio.
No complete Dream Star pair.
A single Star appeared beside the bottom row and never found another.
Ten spins cost €12.
€4.80 returned.
Final balance:
€263.20.
€13.20 above the start.
The last reel stopped.
Snowman.
Bell.
Bell.
One wrapped present.
Santa was still asleep above everything.
The elves had stopped moving.
The reindeer were back.
The empty sleigh had finally stayed parked.
That single present remained on reel four.
After an entire session of Christmas being run by Santa’s subconscious, it was the only thing nobody had delivered, transformed, removed or driven through.
I left it wrapped.
The RTP in Epic Ze Zeus is just a suggestion.
